Our History
Manager of Freezetec Marine Refrigeration, Mr. Mal Parker first began his career in refrigeration back in 1967 in Brisbane Australia, where he was apprenticed to a company regarded as leaders by its peers in new technology in the commercial and light industrial refrigeration industry.
The company directors believed that their continued success in the industry was in the hands of it's enthusiastic young staff and encouraged them through education and hands on experience. This was the catalyst for Mal and at the tender age of 19 years was promoted to chief design engineer in charge of the design and estimating of specialized refrigeration systems in large supermarkets, hotels, cold stores, blast freezers, and commercial fishing vessels incorporating energy efficient equipment with new and proven technology.
In 1982 Mal, by this time self employed, was manufacturing marine and commercial refrigeration cabinets and systems and through continued research and development, his company was regarded by his customers and his peers, to be at the forefront of the field. Mal believed, like his first employers had, that the success of his business was in the hands of his staff, and encouraged their growth through education and pride in their work.

Client Testimonials
R.G. of Brisbane writes about his RL34 Yacht Refrigeration:
We have chartered many yachts with various refrigeration units but the Freeze Tec unit I have bought from you for my own boat is simply the best I have ever come across.
Having converted my eutectic ice box to run off my solar panels/batteries and making use of the old eutectic plate your system is incredibly efficient and reliable. We switch it off during the night and on again in the morning.
The chilled eutectic plate actually ices over and easily takes it through the night with negligible temperature loss. Would recommend anyone with eutectic should look at changing over to this new technology. Wine and beers are almost too cold to drink ....but we put up with it.
Well done, a great system ......R.G., Brisbane, NSW.
Suzie O'Hagan, owner operator of South Coast Sailing writes:
As owner-operators of a commercial charter and sail training vessel we were tired of the limitations of our current engine driven eutectic system. Although technically it worked OK, the refrigeration space at around 9 cubic feet was simply too big to keep cool unless we subjected ourselves to running the engine for a considerable period every day. Not conducive to happy clients in a quiet anchorage!
We contacted a number of firms in the USA who manufacture the latest insulation materials, but they were not interested in retrofitting work. We got the same response from other refrigeration firms we contacted in Queensland; basically there was no interest unless a completely new system was in the offing.
We were then recommended to try Freezetec. Mal Parker immediately understood our wish to enhance what was basically a sound system rather than rip everything out and start again. He recommended carefully installing two extra plates at the top of our existing refrigeration space, which were to be cooled by a new 12 volt compressor. cunningly installed in a small locker in the adjacent heads area.
We also put a removable layer of insulation at the bottom of the refrigeration arm which effectively sealed off the frozen food section, and added a middle shelf with sliding baskets for ease of access to all areas. We have been quite delighted with the results! On a recent three week charter to Sydney and back, we first pulled down the whole 9 cu ft space using both the engine driven and 12 volt systems. Subsequently we just used the 12 volt system with a very occasional burst of the engine driven system when we were motoring in contrary winds. The results were excellent. We found that frozen goods under the 'bottom shelf never thawed, and a middle shelf of criovaced foods also stayed fresh throughout (chicken and rice salad, for example, was as fresh as the day it was bought even three weeks later). But the most impressive thing was that the new plates installed by Mal frosted within 5 minutes of turning on the 12 volt system, and for the first time ever we had ice in our rums!!
A final comment; the new system is virtually inaudible, and the only other modification Mal made was to ventilate the locker which conceals the compressor Sailing and cruising for our clients is now even more pleasurable, and if anyone would like to see our system or talk about it more, just give us a call! 07 5529 3250

Alan Tainton of Melbourne writes about his 80 foot luxury charter vessel "Gissie M":
Dear Mal,
I write to thank you and your staff at Freeze Tec, and to congratulate you
on producing such a fine product. The chilled water air conditioning system that you have installed on "Gissie M" has worked like a charm since day one. The quality of finish is second to none and in my opinion is world class. Other than the matching gold framed digital controllers and the perfect comfort conditions throughout the vessel, we would not know that the air conditioning system is there. The air handler units are so quiet, even on the higher fan speed settings. All of the special requests that I had for an air conditioning system for "Gissie M" like low power consumption, 50% redundancy, quality of finish, have been achieved with your great system, and your advice during construction was well received by all concerned.
Thanks for your great support and your excellent service.
Alan Tainton.
